Summary of Work:

The site of construction is located at the McCook Reservoir located east of LaGrange Road (US-45), north of the Sanitary and Ship Canal and south of the Des Plaines River in the Village of Bedford Park, in the County of Cook, State of Illinois.

Site Preparation

This includes clearing and grubbing, demolition, construction staging and street sweeping.

  • Material Removal: Work includes material removal from Stage 1 of the McCook Reservoir incorporating 56,000 cubic yards of sediment and one (1) steel aerator pole on the bottom of the McCook Reservoir in Stage 1.
  • Hauling: Work consists of hauling the removal of the McCook Reservoir Stage 1 sediment within the defined limits to the decanting area.
  • Transportation: This includes transporting loaded material to offsite disposal facilities, as well as transportation of materials and supplies to the site. It also includes coordinating with Vulcan Materials Company (Vulcan) or other contractors regarding the transport and delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment to the site, as well as transporting personnel between staging and work areas within the reservoir. KLF is also coordinating traffic control and the use of shared access roads and ramps with other contractors. No off-highway vehicles will be allowed on District roads.
  • Traffic Control: This includes traffic control measures to access construction access roads and construction staging areas. KLF shall coordinate use of the access ramp to the McCook Reservoir with other contractors and Vulcan. KLF shall implement traffic control measures as needed at the construction entrance.

Anticipated work for the upcoming month:

KLF to mobilize in the Month of May and install safety precautions, receive approval of submittals to MWRD and start to remove the sediment from the Stage 1 of the McCook Reservoir. KLF will be clearing the onsite MWRD hauling routes and placing the concrete barricades inside the LASMA site. 


Lane Closures:

No anticipated lane closures and or modifications to existing traffic patterns are taking place this month.
